Side lobe level reduction of metasurface transmit array

Abstract This paper presents a study on the side-lobe level (SLL) reduction with transmission type metasurface (MTS) using concept of non-uniform array technique and transmit antenna. According to antenna technique, SLL can be controlled by controlling amplitude phase distribution simultaneously. Initially, is used design MTS. The radiation characteristics MTS are analyzed exciting rectangular patch at fixed feed position. simulation results show gain 17.6 dB ?18.3 ?19 in ? = 0° 90°-planes, respectively. Later, techniques reduce introducing various functions for focal distance. incorporates tapering such as Kaiser, Hamming, Hanning, Blackman functions. resulting SLLs analyzed, achieved far from theoretical values. In order further control SLL, Gaussian function used, which minimizes optimizing standard deviation( ? ). A 16 × unitcells fabricated measured an optimized 0.31. ?25.1 ?26.3
